Additional Information on Eligibility
The NPHL, as a component of the MSPP, is the government agency responsible for safeguarding public health in the country. As such, it is involved in laboratory strategic planning for the health sector, policy development, norm formulation, and regulations. The NPHL is the only laboratory organization having a presence in the 10 geographic departments of the country. The NPHL has the statutory authority to develop, implement, and oversee regulations related to laboratory accreditation, testing, and quality assurance/quality control in the country. It has supported the development and implementation of a Laboratory Information System throughout the country. The NPHL manages a network of regional reference laboratories as well as the national reference laboratory. These labs function as centers of excellence for training of personnel and referrals of diagnostic specimens from peripheral sites also operated by networks of providers supported by PEPFAR.
Grant Description
The purpose of this program is to continue to develop the National Public Health Laboratory (NPHL) in Haiti and to establish its lead role in the Haitian healthcare system for diagnostic, referral, and training services.
