Development And Validation of Technologies for Saliva-Based Diagnostics: The National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR) invites Cooperative Agreement Applications (U01) to support the technological advances needed for rapid, reliable, non-invasive identification of biomarker signature patterns in saliva indicative of local and systemic health status, particularly in regards to early diagnosis of diseases. The focus of such diagnostic technologies must be in disease areas in which saliva based diagnostics can have a major impact. The specific goals of the initiative are to: i) support the development of functional, miniature, portable, self-contained, easy-to-use diagnostic prototype devices for simultaneous multi-analyte detection; and ii) accelerate commercialization of such systems.
