Development of Technologies and Capabilities for Coal Energy Resources: The Department of Energy (DOE), National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL), is conducting this funding opportunity announcement to competitively seek cost-shared applications for research and development of technologies enabling development of energy resources needed to ensure the availability of affordable energy for the Nation apos;s future. Through this announcement, DOE/NETL seeks applications for energy research and development related activities that promote the efficient and sound production and use of fossil fuels (coal). Related information on the Fossil Energy Areas of Interest can be found on the NETL website (http://www.netl.doe.gov) under Technologies. Through this announcement, NETL expects to support applications in the Coal and Environmental Systems Program. The Coal and Environmental Systems Program has four separate (i.e., stand alone) Program Areas of Interests as identified below: Area of Interest 1: Carbon Sequestration DE-PS26-04NT42249-1A Subtopic 1A Direct Capture Technologies https://e-center.doe.gov/iips/faopor.nsf/1be0f2271893ba198525644b006bc0be/8c39a1 9f1148ea1a85256edd007b6f3c?OpenDocument DE-PS26-04NT42249-1B Subtopic 1B Indirect Capture Technologies https://e-center.doe.gov/iips/faopor.nsf/1be0f2271893ba198525644b006bc0be/578047 6713a8918f85256edd007c621e?OpenDocument DE-PS26-04NT42249-1C Subtopic 1C Technologies for Mitigating Non-CO2 Greenhouse Gas Emissions https://e-center.doe.gov/iips/faopor.nsf/1be0f2271893ba198525644b006bc0be/a92c19 857ab290ac85256edd007df5f7?OpenDocument DE-PS26-04NT42249-1D Subtopic 1D Monitoring, Verification and Risk Assessment for Carbon Sequestration Options https://e-center.doe.gov/iips/faopor.nsf/1be0f2271893ba198525644b006bc0be/519376 f9f774049485256edd007ee536?OpenDocument Area of Interest 2: Power Systems Advanced Research DE-PS26-04NT42249-2A Subtopic 2A Novel High Temperature Materials for In-Situ Sensing Devices https://e-center.doe.gov/iips/faopor.nsf/1be0f2271893ba198525644b006bc0be/ca3351 cc97b8c4c785256edd007d11b7?OpenDocument DE-PS26-04NT42249-2B Subtopic 2B Materials for Ultra Supercritical Steam (USC) Turbines https://e-center.doe.gov/iips/faopor.nsf/1be0f2271893ba198525644b006bc0be/a7140a 79af1688ac85256edd007ffd9e?OpenDocument DE-PS26-04NT42249-2C Subtopic 2C Advanced Power Plant Simulation https://e-center.doe.gov/iips/faopor.nsf/1be0f2271893ba198525644b006bc0be/c454d3 49bf588be185256edd00813c5a?OpenDocument Area of Interest 3: Coal Fuels and Hydrogen DE-PS26-04NT42249-3A Subtopic 3A Hydrogen Storage https://e-center.doe.gov/iips/faopor.nsf/1be0f2271893ba198525644b006bc0be/dc2108 5bd1aa04ce85256edd007dac25?OpenDocument DE-PS26-04NT42249-3B Subtopic 3B Production of High Hydrogen Content Coal-Derived Liquids https://e-center.doe.gov/iips/faopor.nsf/1be0f2271893ba198525644b006bc0be/a5a075 cede3ef6d985256edd0082c330?OpenDocument DE-PS26-04NT42249-3C Subtopic 3C Process Intensification https://e-center.doe.gov/iips/faopor.nsf/1be0f2271893ba198525644b006bc0be/dabfa5 bcf09f35ae85256edd0083a731?OpenDocument DE-PS26-04NT42249-3D Subtopic 3D Advanced Water-Gas Shift Membrane Reactor https://e-center.doe.gov/iips/faopor.nsf/1be0f2271893ba198525644b006bc0be/0101f0 2e795dc18185256ede0000aeb5?OpenDocument DE-PS26-04NT42249-3E Subtopic 3E Advanced Solvents and Solid Sorbents-Based Separation Systems https://e-center.doe.gov/iips/faopor.nsf/1be0f2271893ba198525644b006bc0be/f0ab2d b766b5731785256ede000165eb?OpenDocument DE-PS26-04NT42249-3F Subtopic 3F Advanced Fuels Research https://e-center.doe.gov/iips/faopor.nsf/1be0f2271893ba198525644b006bc0be/1ed26a 791752887285256ede0002032d?OpenDocument DE-PS26-04NT42249-3G Subtopic 3G Advanced Solid Separation Technologies https://e-center.doe.gov/iips/faopor.nsf/1be0f2271893ba198525644b006bc0be/1ac859 4e5aa8238c85256ede0002a93e?OpenDocument Area of Interest 4: Advanced Gasification DE-PS26-04NT42249-4A Subtopic 4A Integrated Sulfur, Ammonia and Chloride Removal https://e-center.doe.gov/iips/faopor.nsf/1be0f2271893ba198525644b006bc0be/008bfe 12f6a7a2b985256edd007ec8be?OpenDocument DE-PS26-04NT42249-4B Subtopic 4B Integrated Multiple Contaminant Removal of Mercury, Arsenic, Selenium and Cadmium https://e-center.doe.gov/iips/faopor.nsf/1be0f2271893ba198525644b006bc0be/4c07ac 7b631402e185256ede00038766?OpenDocument Background, Overall Program Goals, and Research Objectives for each of the four Program Areas of Interest are detailed in Attachment 1, Program Areas of Interest, in the Funding Opportunity Master Announcement.doc attached below.
