Disease Progression in Persons Exposed to Asbestos Contaminated Vermiculite Ore: CDC s Procurement and Grants Office has published a program announcement entitled, Disease Progression in Persons Exposed to Asbestos Contaminated Vermiculite Ore. Approximately $160,000 is available to fund one award to a state or local government (including territories and federally recognized Indian tribal governments.) The purpose of the program is to conduct follow-up medical screening programs for persons who were exposed to vermiculite ore in, or shipped from, Libby MT. The finding of the follow-up screenings will be compared to the pre-existing medical data on these individuals to evaluate occurrence, severity, and progression of asbestos-related abnormalities. The estimated funding award date is July 1, 2003.
