Diverse Youth Environmental Outdoor Education and Camps: The BLM, Lower Potomac Field Station (LPFS) is implementing the DOI and BLM youth initiatives through multiple channels. The BLM Lower Potomac Field Station would like to increase opportunities to expose youth in the local area to natural resources while at the same time supporting community organizations. This project will develop partnerships with community organizations and at the same time provide a summer program for at risk and disadvantaged inner city children. The goal of this project is to work with socioeconomic groups that are underrepresented in natural resources. These students will learn about BLM¿s mission, BLM work and explore local public lands. In addition, students will be introduced to healthy lifestyles. A number of overnight camp outs will be conducted at the LPFS and National Park Service sites. Students will participate in biking, hiking, canoeing, swimming and other outdoor activities.
