Early Care and Education Research Scholars: Child Care Research Scholars: The Administration for Children and Families (ACF), Office of Planning, Research and Evaluation (OPRE) is soliciting applications for Child Care Research Scholars grants to support dissertation research on child care policy issues. These grants are meant to build capacity in the research field to focus research on questions that have direct implications for child care policy decision-making and program administration, and to foster mentoring relationships between faculty members and high-quality doctoral students. Child Care Research Scholars projects address issues of significance related to CCDF; inform policy decisions and solutions, particularly for underserved / understudied populations; and utilize the most rigorous research methodology for the selected research question. Additional Information on Eligibility
The dissertation mentor, who will serve as principle investigator, must have a Ph.D. or equivalent in the respective field and conduct research as a primary professional responsibility. Faculty mentors with doctoral training and research expertise will be able to provide proper supervision and quality control over the research project to help ensure a quality end product. The graduate student is expected to have an approved dissertation proposal by the application due date and must submit evidence with the application submission. If the research project involves data collection within a child care setting, the graduate student must have established collaborative partnership with the program(s) and must submit letters of support, as appropriate, from the CCDF state administrator or relevant personnel from state or local agencies from Head Start or Early Head Start program(s). The applicant organization has a history of research and budget oversight and has appropriate resources to support the student. Applications from individuals (including sole proprietorships) and foreign entities are not eligible and will be disqualified from competitive review and from funding under this announcement.
