Economic Studies of Vaccines and Immunization Policies, Programs, and Practices for Adults: The purpose of this funding announcement is to develop a summary of existing economic information in the literature, and unpublished data developed by CDC, about the cost-effectiveness of vaccines for adults and to develop a decision making tool for use by state and local public vaccinating entities using decision analysis and other appropriate methods. Such a tool is needed because resources for adult immunization programs are very limited and decision support will aid immunization programs in determining which populations and vaccines to prioritize to improve coverage. The evaluation project will involve a literature review and summary of economic studies of vaccines routinely recommended for adults by CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP), and development of a quantitative tool for state and local health departments to use when making vaccination policy decisions for prioritization of activities to conduct in their jurisdictions to improve adult immunization coverage.
