Additional Information on Eligibility
Eligible applicants are those who are local, indigenous Nigerian organizations fully registered in the country. A local, indigenous organization is one that originated and is located in the geographic area it services, serves the population located in the geographic area, and has a majority of organizational staff (senior, mid-level, and support) comprised of persons from Nigeria. Organizations include: local, indigenous, public nonprofit organizations; local, indigenous, private nonprofit organizations; local, indigenous universities; local, indigenous colleges; local, indigenous research institutions; local, indigenous hospitals; local, indigenous community-based organizations; local, indigenous faith-based organizations; and governmental and non-governmental organization whose constitution meets the requirements set forth by the PEPFAR local partner definition enumerated below. Definition of local partner in Nigeria: An individual or sole proprietorship, an entity, or a joint venture or other arrangement that is owned and operated by citizens or legal, permanent residents of Nigeria. At least 66% of the entity must be owned, managed and operated by legal Nigerian citizens or legal residents and have its principle place of business located in the country of Nigeria. Nigerian organizations may include any of the following entities: central, provincial, and/or district governments and nongovernmental organizations.
Grant Description
The purpose of this program is to continue the provision and expansion of community- and facility-based HIV/AIDS services including Prevention, Care and Support, and Treatment that have been initiated under PEPFAR-funded HIV clinical services and antiretroviral treatment program in predominantly but not exclusively Faith-Based Organizations in Abia, Adamawa, Anambra, Benue, Ebonyi, Edo, Enugu, Imo, Kaduna, Kano, Kogi, Nassarawa, Ondo, Plateau, Taraba, and the Federal Capital Territory. Currently, support to be continued under the scope of this award includes the provision of ART to over 34,000 patients, care and support services to over 38,000 patients, and HIV Counseling and Testing services to over 81,000 individuals.
