English Language Program Administration: The U.S. Embassy Macedonia Public Affairs Section is pleased to announce that funding is available for academic year English language teaching programs that offer primary and/or secondary school students in Macedonia innovative and experiential learning opportunities to improve their English and learn about the United States. Programs should meet at least once a week throughout the academic school year, beginning in September 2017. The main objectives of this program are to: • Provide opportunities for disadvantaged students to improve their English speaking ability. • Teach about American culture and values through English language learning. • Connect students in the United States and Macedonia, so that they can learn more about each other and build relationships. • Promote inter-ethnic understanding among students in Macedonia. Successful applicants should build off of current and previous English language programs run by U.S. Embassy Macedonia, including the Dreams and Friendship and Graphic Novel Programs (see https://mk.usembassy.gov/wp-content/uploads/sites/249/2017/05/EnglishLanguagePrograms.pdf for more information). Programs should operate in multiple locations, with preference given to cities that do not have an American Corner. U.S. Embassy Macedonia currently has American Corners in Bitola, Skopje, Stip, Struga, and Tetovo. The locations for all English Language Programs for the 2017-18 academic year will be determined in partnership with Public Affairs.
