Etiology, Prevention, and Treatment of Hepatocellular Carcinoma (P01): - The National Cancer Institute (NCI) is interested in receiving program project (P01) grant applications that address the etiology and etiologic mechanisms of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and development of animal models, novel approaches to prevent this malignancy, and therapeutic or diagnostic studies aimed at establishing reliable prognostic indicators for disease progression and/or minimizing morbidity and mortality associated with this malignancy. - Because the nature and scope of the proposed research will vary from application to application, it is anticipated that the size and duration of each award will also vary. The total amount awarded and the number of awards will depend upon the mechanism types, numbers, qualities, durations, and costs of the applications received. - The type of mechanism to be supported is the P01 (program project) research grant application. - You may submit (an) application(s) if your organization has any of the following characteristics: for-profit organizations; non-profit organizations; public or private institutions, such as universities, colleges, hospitals, and laboratories; units of State governments; units of local governments; eligible agencies of the Federal government; domestic institutions (foreign institutions are not eligible); and faith-based or community-based organizations. - Eligible principal investigators include a ny individual with the skills, knowledge, and resources necessary to carry out the proposed research. Individuals from underrepresented racial and ethnic groups as well as individuals with disabilities are always encouraged to apply for NIH programs. - Applicants may submit more than one application, provided they are scientifically distinct. - See Section IV.1 for application and submission information. - Telecommunications for the hearing impaired is available at: TTY 301-451-0088.
