Expanding Services of Civil Society Organizations Responding to HIV/AIDS in the Republic of Zimbabwe Under the Presidents Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR): The purpose of this program is to support an indigenous organization to strengthen a network of local organizations providing HIV prevention, care and support services to people living with HIV/AIDS (PLHIV) in Zimbabwe. Civil society organizations in Zimbabwe provide prevention and community based care where public and private medical services are limited. This member network will enable PEPFAR/CDC to reach more people, institutions, programs and activities than if the service organizations were directly funded. Through PEPFAR/CDC financial support to this key network, the capacity of the civil society organization will be strengthened in the following areas: leadership and governance structures at all levels i.e. district, provincial and national levels; collection of relevant data from members and use the data to formulate advocacy issues; strengthen information flows from members to policy makers for advocacy purposes and vice versa, and from members to members.
