Expanding the Encyclopedia of DNA Elements (ENCODE) in the Human and Model Organisms (U54): The Encyclopedia of DNA Elements (ENCODE) and modENCODE Projects have, since their inception, cataloged a significant fraction of the functional elements in the human and well-studied model organism genomes, respectively, and these catalogs are increasingly being used by the research community to expand on basic biological knowledge and to interpret the results of disease-mapping studies. The purpose of this FOA is to solicit applications for research projects to apply high-throughput, cost-efficient approaches to greatly extend these resources toward as complete catalogs as is feasible employing state-of-the-art technologies. The funded projects will participate in a single Research Network that will be a consolidation of the existing ENCODE and modENCODE Research Consortia.
