Grant Description: NIJ is soliciting research to examine the influence of shift schedules and shift assignment policies on the safety, health, and performance of police officers in the United States. By informing police administrators about the relative risks and benefits of different shift schedules and shift assignment policies, this research will improve their ability to manage shift work and reduce the negative consequences of fatigue and stress on police officers and their families.
