Grant Description
CDC?s Procurement and Grants Office has published a program announcement entitled, ?Food Safety: Discovering Novel Causes of Foodborne Illness?. Approximately $700,000 will be available in fiscal year 2004 to fund two awards. The purpose of the program is to better define the burden of foodborne, infectious diarrheal diseases among a broad array of known and potential pathogens, to test for novel pathogens and evaluate new diagnostic tests where the results will advance our knowledge of relative frequency of foodborne pathogens and improve disease surveillance and prevention efforts. The application deadline is June 25, 2004, and the estimated funding date is September 1, 2004.
