Forest Restoration and Monitoring on Tyndall Air Force Base, FL: THIS IS A NOTICE OF INTENT TO AWARD TO A SINGLE SOURCE, AND THERE IS NO FULL ANNOUNCEMENT ASSOCIATED WITH THIS NOTICE. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (Service) intends to award a cooperative agreement to Department of the Interior, United States (U.S.) Fish and Wildlife Service, Southeast Region, Division of Fisheries to remove downed timber on 4,000 acres resulting from damage caused by Hurricane Michael at Tyndall Air Force Base. In addition to the catastrophic impacts to base house, utilities, and infrastructure, the extreme winds produced by the hurricane destroyed over 90% of the pine forest that previously dominated portions of the base. The downed trees now present an increased risk for wildfires particularly with the dry summer months approaching. In addition to the hazards the debris creates, the area needs to cleared in order to replant trees.
