Genome-Wide Association Studies to Identify Genetic Components that Relate to Heart, Lung, and Blood Disorders (R01): The purpose of this RFA is to support genome-wide association studies to identify genetic components related to heart, lung, and blood disorders and their risk factors using existing population, family and clinical studies. The data generated by this effort will contribute to our knowledge of the underlying biochemical pathways to disease, the interaction of genetic components with each other and with the environment. Results have the potential to identify novel predictors of disease, new therapeutic interventions, prevention strategies and treatments, as well as predictors of response to treatment.
