- Summary: USDA NRCS administers the Grazing Lands Conservation Initiative Program (GLCI) to help livestock farmers address natural resource concerns while enhancing the economic, environmental and social stability of grazing land enterprises and communities. NRCS needs an entity to assist in the development of collaborative effort among agriculture groups, provide funding for educational activities and associated activities, and serve as a communication link with organizations involved in GLCI activities. Description: The purpose is to engage in a cooperative effort to support grazing lands educational activities to landowners, land users and educators in Arkansas. NRCS and the University of Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service, by working with this entity in this effort, will be able to coordinate with a larger group of landowners in order to promote the proper use of grazing land. Recipients of training will be educated on better use of the land and enhanced grazing land management which will lead to improved water quality, better use of available natural resources, diminished negative impact on wildlife and other resource improvements. The entity will: 1. Develop collaborative efforts among the agricultural groups in Arkansas to develop educational activities. 2. Provide financial support for training and educational activities as described below: a. Published materials for dissemination at the training activities. b. Expenses for speakers and other trainers for these activities. c. Demonstrations of innovative grazing lands conservation measures. d. Field trips to view grazing land management options. e. Supplies and materials required for the trainings and activities. f. Meals and related expenses for participants at sponsored functions. g. Publicity for the educational activities.
