"HIV Prevention Intervention Research with HIV-Positive Incarcerated Populations: CDCs Procurement and Grants Office has published a new funding opportunity entitled, "HIV Prevention Intervention Research with HIV-Positive Incarcerated Populations." Approximately, $900,000 will be available in FY2006 to fund three awards to conduct research on interventions in prisons. The primary objectives of the proposed interventions must be to reduce risk behaviors of persons with HIV, and increase their access to appropriate medical treatment, and prevention services after release from prison. This would include referrals for substance abuse and Partner Counseling and Referral Services (PCRS). All interventions must include promotion of abstinence, faithful monogamy, and correct, consistent condom use (ABC).
