Haiti Rule of Law Initiative: INL seeks sustainable, informed and well developed approaches that will assist the newly established Judicial Inspection Unit (JIU)--within the Superior Council of the Judiciary (CSPJ)--which is responsible for vetting judges and addressing misconduct and corruption, analyzing past conduct, and ensuring the professional conduct and integrity of Haitian judges. The overall objective of this grant is to support the creation of a robust, independent JIU within the CSPJ to elevate the quality of jurisprudence across the country. Special attention should be given to training the JIU to understand and enforce the proper role and expectations of a judge, including ethics and professional conduct under Haiti's current and proposed laws and procedures.
