Hazard Mitigation and Structural Engineering: The HMSE program supports fundamental research on the design and performance of structural systems and on new technologies for improving the behavior, safety, and reliability of structural systems and their resistance to natural hazards such as earthquakes and technological hazards (such as bombs).?? Also supported by the program are innovations in analysis and model-based simulation of structural behavior and response, design concepts that improve structural performance, reliability, resilience and sustainability, structural health monitoring, and applications of new control techniques for structural systems.
