Eligible applicants that can apply for this funding opportunity are listed below: .Universities .Community based not for profit organizations .Federally recognized Indian tribal governments .State and local governments or their Bona Fide Agents (this includes the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, American Samoa, Guam, the Federated States of Micronesia, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, and the Republic of Palau) A Bona Fide Agent is an agency/organization identified by the state as eligible to submit an application under the state eligibility in lieu of a state application. If applying as a bona fide agent of a state or local government, a letter from the state or local government as documentation of the status is required. Place this documentation behind the first page of the application form. The program must be placed within the organizational structure to facilitate maximum visibility and integration within existing programs. The applicant must also demonstrate support and commitment from agency leadership, and the location of the program activities should reflect this support.
Grant Description
The purpose of the program is to encourage health promotion among people with thalassemia by supporting prevention education and outreach activities to increase knowledge about proven prevention strategies, and encourage adoption of healthy behaviors that reduce or prevent complications of thalassemia including prevention of blood borne infections.
