Hepatitis C Treatment Expansion Initiative Demonstration Sites: This award will support organizations funded under the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Treatment and Modernization Act of 2006 to implement and evaluate existing successful interventions designed to provide Hepatitis C (HCV) treatment in the context of Ryan White funded HIV primary care. HCV treatment is underutilized, due to both resource and capacity issues. The primary focus of this initiative is to implement and evaluate successful HCV treatment modalities into Ryan White funded HIV care settings. In order to expand HCV treatment, the HIV/AIDS Bureau will highlight successful treatment programs and provide funding to Ryan White funded organizations to implement these models. The initiative will also evaluate the effectiveness of the adopted models to deliver HCV treatment among HIV infected populations. Specifically, selected organizations must agree to participate in both local and multi-site evalutions that will gather process and outcome data and other relevant information on their effectiveness, including costs, in Ryan White funded primary care settings. Applicants must include a plan to compile lessons learned and best practice models that can be shared with Ryan White grantees and other HIV medical providers to improve access and quality of Ryan White services for HIV patients. Applicants must also include a sound plan for disseminating complete documentation of their best practice model to the HIV/AIDS Bureau and nationally to the Ryan White community for the purpose of replication and integration.
