Human Heredity and Health in Africa (H3Africa): Collaborative Centers (U54): This NIH Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA), supported by funds from the NIH Common Fund (Common Fund) and participating NIH Institute(s) and Center(s), invites applications from foreign Institutions in African countries who wish to develop the study of genomic/genetic/environmental contributors of human health and disease within Africa, using cutting edge research tools to understand health and diseases affecting African populations more completely and increase capacity for biomedical research, in terms of building infrastructure (including data and research resources), genomic proficiency of researchers and numbers of trainees. In partnership with the Wellcome Trust, the H3Africa initiative is focused on supporting these efforts as part of an effort to promote sustainable research in Africa that will promote health and combat disease.
