Human Rights Support Mechanism (HRSM): The Human Rights Support Mechanism (HRSM) will serve as USAID’s flagship mechanism for supporting human rights protection programs worldwide based on the needs identified by Missions and commitments made in the 2013 USAID Strategy on Democracy, Human Rights and Governance, specifically to “support mechanisms for protection, mitigation and response to violations against human rights, in particular human rights violations affecting the most vulnerable.” This five-year Leader with Associates award will support activities related to improving enabling environments for preventing human rights violations and abuses, responsive actions to mitigate the impact of violations and abuses, and effective remedies to violations and abuses. Additionally, through the Leader award, USAID will support the identification of effective approaches to protecting human rights via assistance activities, and rapid response to urgent and unforeseen crises.
