Human Tissue and Organ Research Resource (Limited Competition U42): The National Center for Research Resources (NCRR) invites an application for a limited competition Request for Application (RFA) for the continued support of a Human Tissue and Organ Resource under the auspices of the National Disease Research Interchange. The human tissue and organ research resource is expected to facilitate procurement, preservation, and distribution of human tissue and organs to qualified biomedical researchers. The overall objective of this limited competition RFA is to support the continued availability of human tissues and organs to biomedical researchers in the United States (US). This limited competition RFA will use the U42 cooperative agreement mechanism to continue support for the acquisition and distribution of human tissues and organs. The NCRR anticipates awarding one competitive renewal U42 cooperative agreement grant for a period of up to 5 years. The funds (total costs) set aside from participating NIH Institutes, Centers, and Offices for this one anticipated U42 award is up to $1.4 million in the first year and up to $7.0M over 5 years. Eligible Institutions/Organizations include Public/State Controlled Institution of Higher Education; Private Institution of Higher Education; Nonprofit with 501(c)(3) IRS Status (Other than Institution of Higher Education); Nonprofit without 501(c)(3) IRS Status (Other than Institution of Higher Education); Small Business; For-Profit Organization (Other than Small Business); State Government; U.S. Territory or Possession; Indian/Native American Tribal Government (Federally Recognized); Indian/Native American Tribal Government (Other than Federally Recognized); Indian/Native American Tribally Designated Organization; Non-domestic (non-U.S.) Entity (Foreign Organization); Hispanic-serving Institution; Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs); Tribally Controlled Colleges and Universities (TCCUs); Alaska Native and Native Hawaiian Serving Institutions; Regional Organizations. Eligible principal investigator(s) includes individual(s) with the skills, knowledge, and resources necessary to carry out the proposed research is invited to work with the eligible institution to develop an application for support. Individuals from underrepresented racial and ethnic groups, from disadvantaged backgrounds as well as individuals with disabilities are always encouraged to apply for NIH support. More than one Principal Investigator (PI), or multiple PIs, may be designated on the application.
