Hydrogen fueling stations andfuelcell vehicles are entering the public space today through demonstrationprojects, and stationary and portable fuel cells have already reached thecommercial market in some niche applications. Current public knowledge andawareness levels of hydrogen and fuel cells are low, however, and prevalentmisunderstandings of hydrogen properties have affected negative opinionsaboutthe safe use of hydrogen as an energy carrier.The DOEs Hydrogen, Fuel Cells, and Infrastructure Technologies (HFCIT)Programseeks to facilitate near-term market transformation and futurecommercialization by providing technically accurate and objectiveinformationto key target audiences, including: state and local governmentrepresentatives,potential end users, safety and code officials, and local communities.Undergraduate and graduate students, professors, and middle and high schoolteachers and students comprise another important audience, as they are ourNations future researchers, scientists, engineers, technicians, andtechnologyusers.This Funding Opportunity Announcement is requesting applications forhydrogeneducation development in three topic areas: Topic 1, State and LocalGovernmentOutreach, Topic 2, Early Deployment and Education, and Topic 3, UniversityPrograms.Applications for this FOA must be accessed, completed, and submittedthroughGrants.gov at http://www.grants.gov to be considered for award.
