Ice Age National Scientific Reserve- IATR: By Congressional Act of 1964, the Secretary of the Interior is to cooperate with the State of Wisconsin in the administration of the Ice Age National Scientific Reserve. The public purpose of this project and assistance is to support the State of Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources in its efforts to (1) protect, preserve, and interpret the nationally significant values and features of continental glaciation in Wisconsin, including moraines, eskers, kames, kettle-holes, drumlins, swamps, lakes and other natural features of the Ice Age, (2) provide access to and educate the public regarding the landforms and associated natural features which resulted from continental glaciation, and outstanding recreational and educational opportunities for all Americans, and (3) enable the NPS and WDNR to act in a concerted manner to promote cooperation in the sponsorship and direct pursuit of improved planning and research.
