Implementation of a Primary Health Care Program in South Africa under the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR): CDC's Procurement and Grants Office has published a program announcement entitled, "Implementation of a Primary Health Care Program in South Africa under the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR)." Approximately $3,500,000 will be available to fund approximately one award. The purpose of the program is to: (1) to strengthen health care delivery through quality of data recording and reporting; routinize chart review at the facility level, harmonize knowledge transfer, promote integrated care through best practices derived from operational research, monitoring and evaluation, support and strengthen the process of accrediting PHC facilities to render comprehensive care management and treatment services; and (2) to enhance human capacity development through mentoring programs at the point of service, integrating accredited training curricula, support for development of new cadres of health care workers, strengthen support for clinic managers and health care workers, and support for operational research to identify new evidence-based tools and technology in South Africa.
