Increasing IIS Sentinel Site Capacity for Enhanced Program Support: The purpose of Increasing IIS Capacity for Enhanced Program Support is to address increasing requests for IIS to support broad immunization program activities to ensure high vaccination coverage, respond to outbreaks of vaccine preventable disease (VPD), and monitor the impact of VPD prevention activities. Two aspects of VPD activities currently receiving increased attention include pandemic response capacity and Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) prevention. IIS Sentinel Sites are being asked to play a role in supporting both initiatives. Enhancements must be made to IIS Sentinel Sites in order to effectively support immunization program capacity in these areas. All funds for this Funding Opportunity Announcement must be used to support the initiative mentioned above. Additionally, for HPV prevention efforts, it is recommended that funds be shared with the state Cancer Registry or other HPV-related outcomes databases to assist with relevant HPV-related activities.
