Innovative Research in Cancer Nanotechnology (IRCN) (R01): This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) encourages applications for the development of innovative research projects in cancer nanotechnology. This initiative, to be known as Innovative Research in Cancer Nanotechnology (IRCN), is a component of a broader program that is the NCI Alliance for Nanotechnology in Cancer. IRCN awards are designed to enable multidisciplinary research and transformative discoveries in cancer biology and/or oncology through the use of nanotechnology. Proposed projects should address major barriers in cancer biology and/or oncology using nanotechnology and should emphasize fundamental understanding of nanomaterial and/or nanodevice interactions with biological systems. This scope includes research concerning the delivery of nanoparticles and/or nanodevices to desired and intended cancer targets in vivo and/or characterization of in vitro detection and diagnostic devices.
