- Grant Description
- AFRL/RZP seeks to develop and demonstrate a subscale power and thermal management system to assess the integration issues and transient behavior when implemented with a directed energy weapon (DEW) or high peak power aircraft loads. This program seeks to utilize existing state-of-the-art hardware with minimal development to implement a flexible power and thermal management capability at AFRL/RZP facilities at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. It is the intent of this effort to issue awards to one or more contractors which will work with AFRL researchers and existing on-site support contractors as part of a government / industry / academia collaborative team to design, build, and test the subscale power and thermal management system test bed. This facility will eventually be located in AFRLs INVENT Simulation Integration Facility (ISIF) and be capable of operationally evaluating different power and thermal management strategies for advanced DEW and energy optimized aircraft (EOA) concepts. Cost sharing is encouraged for this effort.
