Invasive Plant Management in Partnership with U.S.F.W.S. National Wildlife Refuges in Mountain-Prairie Region (MT/WY/CO/UT/NE/KS/ND/SD): This synopsis is the full announcement. The purpose of this agreement is to foster cooperative invasive plant management across jurisdictional boundaries within watersheds and landscapes associated with the National Wildlife Refuge System. Financial assistance to facilitate the establishment of common priorities and objectives necessary for managing invasive species along logical geographic boundaries with similar land types, use patterns, and problem species. The FWS works to eradicate, contain, and prevent the spread of noxious weeds on refuge system lands and cooperate to prevent the spread or threat outside their boundaries. Cooperation between USFWS and partners will result in operational efficiencies in resource management when working with intermingled land ownership goals. The objectives of this agreement are to support integrated and adaptive weed management methods and foster community-based, collaborative weed management initiatives. Several strategies will be used: coordination and cooperation; develop and maintain common inventories and associated methods for invasive plants; develop awareness, education and training programs; develop prevention and early detection strategies; develop and implement best treatment methods; establish species-specific control priorities; develop monitoring programs and evaluations; and coordinate the sharing of resources and equipment.
