Lake Sturgeon Restoration Plan: Funding will be provided to develop a habitat suitability model and restoration plan for lake sturgeon in the Maumee River. Applicants should be familiar with the development of habitat suitability models and how to incorporate this work into restoration plans for endangered species. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (Service) will be substantially involved in the project under this funding opportunity. In particular, the Service will be responsible for the following: providing technical assistance during the data collection process and reviewing editing restoration plans developed as a result of this work. Participate and collaborate jointly with the recipient partner, volunteer, scientist, technician or other personnel, in carrying out the scope of work, including training recipient personnel or detailing Federal personnel to work on the project effort; help select project staff or trainees; limit recipient discretion with respect to scope of work, organizational structure, staffing, mode of operations and other management processes, coupled with close monitoring or operational involvement during performance under the award. The intended recipient of this award is the University of Toledo. The award will be given to this recipient without competition as a result of location near the study site, technical expertise, and knowledge of system.
