Additional Information on Eligibility
To be eligible to apply for funding under this program, the applicant must be a state, Native American Tribe, city, county, or similar unit of local government. Multiple units of a local government (or multiple local governments) may apply as part of a consortium; however, you must identify a lead applicant that will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all requirements specified in this NOFA. If you are a state or Tribal applicant, you must have a Lead-Based Paint Contractor Certification and Accreditation Program authorized by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Current grantees with grants ending after December 31, 2005 are not eligible to apply.
Grant Description
The Lead-Based Paint Hazard Control Program is authorized by Section 1011 of the Residential Lead-Based Paint Hazard Reduction Act of 1992 (Title X of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1992, Public Law 102-550). HUD's authority for making funding available under this NOFA is the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2005. The Lead-Based Paint Hazard Control Grant Program assists states, Native American Tribes and local governments in undertaking programs for the identification and control of lead-based paint hazards in eligible privately owned rental and owner-occupied housing units.
