- Grant Description
- The USFWS is not seeking applications. The USFWS plans to award this cooperative agreement under the Department Manual 505-2, using 2.14B(1) to justify a single source award to Pheasants Forever - 2.14B(1) Unsolicited Proposal the proposal award is the result of an unsolicited assistance application which represents a unique or innovative idea, method, or approach which is not the subject of a current or planned contract or assistance award but which is deemed advantageous to the program objectives. Pheasants Forevers Leopold Education Project (LEP) introduces educators to the writings and lessons of Aldo Leopold. LEP has been concentrated in the Midwest pheasant range and this proposal would allow LEP to reach a larger audience by providing educational activities related to habitats such as wetlands, forests, deserts and prairies. LEP will create a series of Exploration and Discovery cards based on A Sand County Almanac and focus on regional ecosystems and related wildlife. The lessons will be easy to teach and learn and will encourage youth to get outside and explore the nature in their communities. This proposal is in alignment with the Secretary of the Interiors vision to inspire the next generation of conservation professionals.
