Limited Competition: The Environmental Determinants of Diabetes in the Youth (TEDDY) study ( U01): -Purpose. The NIDDK invites Cooperative Agreement applications for a limited competition from the six Clinical Centers already involved in The Environmental Determinants of Diabetes in the Youth (TEDDY) consortium. These clinical centers will continue to participate in the development and implementation of studies to identify environmental factors which trigger the development of type 1 diabetes in genetically susceptible individuals. The CCs will complete recruitment for the TEDDY study, follow enrolled subjects and continue to work together cooperatively with the existing Data Coordinating Center (DCC) of the study as a Consortium. -Mechanism of Support. This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) will utilize the cooperative agreement (U01) grant mechanism -Funds Available and Anticipated Number of Awards. The NIDDK intends to commit approximately $5.0 million in FY 2008 to make 6 awards for up to 5 years each. Awards issued under this FOA are contingent upon the availability of funds and the submission of meritorious applications.
