Limited Competition for the Biomedical Informatics Research Network Community Service Award (U24): -Purpose. The major objective of the Biomedical Informatics Research Network (BIRN) is to build the infrastructure necessary to allow data to be shared among members of the biomedical research community. The BIRN Coordinating Center (BIRN CC) is responsible for maintaining the underlying hardware and software infrastructure for the project. However, the BIRN CC does not have the necessary expertise to offer advice on data collection, data analysis, or data presentation to those who want to use the BIRN infrastructure. The purpose of the BIRN Community Service Award (BCS) is to provide this missing link between biomedical researchers and the BIRN Coordinating Center. Applicants under this Limited Competition must have received funding support from one of the BIRN Testbed Awards (U24RR21382; U24RR21760, or U24RR21992). The Principal Investigator (PI) on a testbed award, any of the subcontract PIs, or other key participants on the awards are all eligible to submit an application as a PI or co-PI in response to this competition. -Mechanism of Support. This FOA will utilize the U24 grant mechanism -Funds Available and Anticipated Number of Awards. One award will be made in response to this Limited Competition.
