- Grant Description
- Design and conduct a pilot study during the spring and summer of 2010 to determine whether bats selectively forage over/within mesquite bosques during periods of peak flowering by mesquite on the 7B Ranch (a map of the area will be provided in the full announcement). The pilot study is to be based on acoustic sampling but the proposal may include some limited mist netting. It is anticipated that some acoustic sampling will be required in adjacent riparian and upland areas to get at the question of habitat availability and selective utilization. However, the level of effort should be consistent with a pilot study. Based on the results of this pilot study, additional funding may be made available in 2011.
