Mexican Wolf Project Support: Monitoring, Assessment, and Conservation: The purpose of this Cooperative Agreement is to renew the existing Cooperative Agreement with NMDGF (20181-08-J860) in order to continue to promote recovery of the Mexican wolf (Canis lupus baileyi), a federally listed endangered species. Specific objectives to be accomplished through this Cooperative Agreement are as follows:A. Establish and support a long-term project to reestablish captive-reared Mexican wolves in the Gila and Apache National Forests in New Mexico and Arizona.B. Achieve the recovery goals for this species as set forth in the Mexican Wolf Recovery Plan and the reintroduction objectives as set forth in the Notice of Record of Decision and Statement of Findings on the Final Environmental Impact Statement on Reintroduction of the Mexican Gray Wolf to its Historic Range in the Southwestern United States.C. Provide for enhanced awareness and involvement by other agencies, local and tribal governments, communities, and citizens regarding the Mexican wolf reestablishment effort.
