Grant Description
MBDA currently funds a network of eight (8) MBOC projects located across the United States. MBDA will compete in the following geographical service areas: Alabama MBOC Chicago MBOC Florida MBOC Gary, Indiana MBOC Los Angeles, California MBOC Washington, DC MBOC Wisconsin MBOC. MBOC projects provide technical assistance and brokering services to eligible minority business enterprises (MBEs), with an emphasis on firms with $500,000 or more in annual revenues or firms with "rapid growth potential" (collectively, the "Strategic Growth Initiative" or "SGI" firms). In addition, MBOCs provide access to procurement and financing opportunities within the public and private sectors. MBOC operators and executive directors should have experience in and knowledge of the local minority business sector and demonstrated ability to access key decision makers. MBOCs are supported by a volunteer advisory committee that assists the MBOC in implementing program requirements and providing contract and financing opportunities to MBEs. Specific performance requirements and metrics are used by MBDA to evaluate each project and are a key component of the MBOC Program. The MBOC Programs primary evaluation criterion is the dollar value of contracts and financial transactions awarded to MBEs. See Section I.C., Program Work Requirements and Section I.E., Minimum Performance Goals, of this Announcement of Federal Funding Opportunity (FFO) for applicable programmatic requirements.
