Molecular Libraries Screening Instrumentation (R01): -Purpose. The National Institutes of Health invites research applications to develop and evaluate in a large-scale screening center environment innovative instrumentation to accelerate the pace and maximize the efficiency of small molecule high throughput screening. Grantees are encouraged to utilize one of the Molecular Libraries Probe Production Centers Network (MLPCN) centers for installation and testing the instrumentation to implement one or more screens. The applicants can also propose to use other suitable screening centers for this purpose. This initiative and the MLPCN are both components of the NIH Molecular Libraries and Imaging Roadmap Program (http://nihroadmap.nih.gov/molecularlibraries/index.asp). This initiative is a follow on to the Molecular Libraries Screening Instrumentation initiative (RFA-RM-04-020). -Mechanism of Support. This FOA will utilize the R01 grant mechanism. -Funds Available and Anticipated Number of Awards. The total amount of funding from the NIH Roadmap for new awards under this initiative is approximately $4 million total costs per year for approximately 5-7 new awards in FY09.
