Moncus Park Outdoor Showcase: THIS IS A NOTICE OF INTENT TO AWARD TO A SINGLE SOURCE, AND THERE IS NO FULL ANNOUNCEMENT ASSOCIATED WITH THIS NOTICE. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (Service) intends to award a cooperative agreement to Lafayette Central Park Inc. to contribute towards the establishment of a 100-acre nature-oriented urban park (Moncus Park) in Lafayette, Louisiana that is anticipated to serve a huge population segment. The award is intended to engage in coastal prairie restoration (7 acres), bottomland hardwood restoration (5 acres), and invasive eradication/control (25 acres) for the benefit of at-risk species conservation including monarch butterfly (and other pollinators), tri-colored bat, golden-winged warbler, loggerhead shrike, Henslow's sparrow, indigo and painted buntings. The project will include restoring and enhancing monarch habitat by establishing foraging and nesting vegetation, restoring migrating habitat for the golden-winged warbler, and nesting/foraging habitat for the tri-colored bat, as well as restoring nesting and wintering habitat for a variety of declining grassland songbird species of concern.
