Mosquito Abatement at Naval Weapons Station Seal Beach: This is a follow-on action to an existing requirement. Mosquito control at Naval Weapons Station (NWS) Seal Beach, Orange County, California, was previously conducted by the Orange County Vector Control District (OCVCD) under Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity Contract N62473-12-D-3609. The period of performance for this contract, including all option periods, was 01 October 2012 through 30 September 2017. The last task order (Task Order 0003) was completed on 30 September 2013. The purpose of this Agreement is to control mosquitoes in the Tidal Area and Inland Area of NWS Seal Beach. Mosquito control at NWS Seal Beach is required to prevent mosquito infestations in areas of dense human habitation such as the areas surrounding the station. Mosquito control will reduce the risk of human diseases, such as West Nile virus, that can impact mission essential operations at NWS Seal Beach. The objective is to control larval and pupal mosquitoes in their aquatic sites to prevent the emergence of adult mosquitoes. Because the mosquito control will be performed on the National Wildlife Refuge within the habitat of endangered and threatened species, all control operations must be conducted with minimal impact on the natural resources. As such, special permitting will be required from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS), to peform any service on any protected site. This cooperative agreement is established in accordance with California Health and Safety Code (HSC) 2001 and OPNAVINST 6250.4C 4. d.(18). OCVCD is the designated recipient of this cooperative agreement. This posting is an announcement of a sole source cooperative agreement being established with OCVCD. Applications and proposals are not being solicited.
