NIDCR Clinical Trial Planning Grant: - The goal of this program announcement is to provide support for the development of a comprehensive research protocol for large-scale, multicenter clinical trials. This planning grant provides early peer review of the proposed clinical trial in terms of its rationale, general design, organizational structure and implementation plan. The planning grant is used to support the development of a detailed Manual of Procedures (MOP) and can include preliminary studies to refine study procedures or to document recruitment potential of clinical sites.- This Planning Grant is not intended to support small pilot clinical trial; i.e., applications may not include randomization into treatment groups.- The total amount to be awarded depends on the scientific merit of applications and the funds available in NIDCRs general funding pool. - The type of mechanism supported under this PA is the R21. - Eligible organizations include for-profit, not-for-profit; units of state and local governments; eligible agencies of the Federal government; domestic or foreign institutions/organizations; and public or private institutions such as universities, colleges, hospitals, and laboratories. - Eligible principal investigators include any individual with the skills, knowledge, and resources necessary to carry out the proposed research. - Applicants may submit more than one application, provided they are scientifically distinct. - See Section IV.1 for application materials. - Telecommunications for the hearing impaired is available at: TTY 301-451-0088
