NIDDK Career Transition Award (K22) in Patient-Oriented Research: The NIDDK Career Transition Award, which uses the K22 mechanism, is a five-year mentored career development award whose goal is to attract outstanding physician-scientists to a clinical research training program that will endow them with the fundamental skills and investigational tools necessary for successful careers in patient-oriented research, and to facilitate their successful transition to an extramural environment as independent researchers.
