NIGMS National Centers for Systems Biology (P50): Purpose. The National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS) invites grant applications from institutions/ organizations proposing to establish Centers of Excellence in Systems Biology. The goal of this initiative is to promote institutional development of pioneering research, research training, and outreach programs focused on systems-level inquiries of biomedical and biobehavioral questions within the NIGMS mission. The description of the NIGMS mission can be found on the website, www.nigms.nih.gov. Mechanism of Support. This FOA will utilize the P50 Specialized Center grant mechanism. Funds Available and Anticipated Number of Awards. The total amount of funding that the agency/IC expects to award through this announcement is up to $7 million total costs per year. The expected number of awards is two. Budget and Project Period. The total project period for an application submitted in response to this funding opportunity may not exceed five years. Direct costs are limited to $2 million per year for a five-year period.
