NIJ FY08 Research on Human Trafficking: The National Institute of Justice (NIJ) is the research, development, and evaluation agency of the U.S. Department of Justice and a component of the Office of Justice Programs (OJP). NIJ provides objective, independent, evidence-based knowledge and tools to enhance the administration of justice and public safety. NIJ solicits applications to inform its search for the knowledge and tools to guide policy and practice. NIJ is seeking applications for funding for research projects to address knowledge gaps related to trafficking in persons in the United States. NIJ is particularly interested in research related to labor trafficking, demand reduction for sex trafficking and commercial sex acts, and identifying and addressing issues faced by trafficking victims. All applications should be for research with direct, immediate, and obvious implications for policy and practice in the United States. Pursuant to 22 U.S.C. § 7110(g)(1), no funds made available under this solicitation may be used to promote, support, or advocate the legalization or practice of prostitution.
