NIJ FY09 Research and Evaluation on Sexual Violence and Teen Dating Violence: The National Institute of Justice (NIJ) is the research, development, and evaluation agency of the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) and a component of the Office of Justice Programs (OJP). NIJ provides objective, independent, evidence-based knowledge and tools to enhance the administration of justice and public safety. NIJ solicits applications to inform its search for the knowledge and tools to guide policy and practice.NIJ seeks applications for funding research to help increase women's safety and improve the justice system and related responses to sexual violence and teen dating violence. Research is sought on the criminal justice system's response to sexual violence,; the extent of the problem of teen dating violence and characteristics of abusive teen relationships; and the evaluation of teen dating violence programs, policies, and legislation. Applications addressing other areas of research on violence against women, such as Intimate Partner Violence Stalking, will be accepted. However, applicants are strongly encouraged to consider NIJ's stated research priorities as they are outlined in this solicitation.
