NIJ FY18 Strengthening the Medical Examiner-Coroner System Program: With this solicitation, NIJ seeks proposals to strengthen the medical examiner/coroner (ME/C) system in the United States. Through this program, NIJ will support grants in two focus areas by: (1) Supporting forensic pathology fellowships; and (2) Providing resources necessary for medical examiner and coroner offices to achieve accreditation. Statutory Authority: Any awards under this solicitation would be made under statutory authority provided by a full-year appropriations act for FY 2018. As of the writing of this solicitation, the Department of Justice is operating under a short-term "Continuing Resolution"; no full-year appropriation for the Department has been enacted for FY 2018.
