Nanotechnology Undergraduate Education (NUE): This solicitation aims at introducing nanoscale science, engineering, and technology through a variety of interdisciplinary approaches into undergraduate education. The focus is on nanoscale engineering education with relevance to devices and systems and/or on the social, economic, and ethical issues that surround nanotechnology. A related program, Active Nanostructures and Nanodevices, is focused on fundamental research in emerging areas of nanoscale science, engineering, and technology. This related program contains two components: Nanoscale Interdisciplinary Research Teams (NIRT) and Nanoscale Exploratory Research (NER). Other research and education projects in nanoscale science and engineering will continue to be supported in the relevant NSF programs and divisions.
